Frequently Asked

Common questions about pet travel

Which countries does Wandertails support?
We currently cover travel between Singapore, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Switzerland. We add new routes as we verify official requirements with the relevant authorities โ€” let us know if you need a country we haven't added yet.
How far in advance should I start planning my pet's trip?
It depends on your destination. Some countries (like Japan and Hong Kong) require 6 months or more of preparation because rabies blood tests have mandatory waiting periods before travel is allowed. When you generate your checklist we'll show you the earliest viable departure date based on your exact route.
Is Wandertails free to use?
Yes โ€” generating your personalised checklist is free. We're building optional concierge services for owners who want hands-on help, but the core planning tool will always stay free.
Can my pet travel in the cabin or do they need to go as cargo?
That depends on your airline, your pet's weight and breed, and your destination's rules. Your personalised plan surfaces cabin vs cargo eligibility so you know exactly what to book.
What if my pet is a snub-nosed (brachycephalic) breed?
Many airlines restrict snub-nosed breeds (Pugs, French Bulldogs, Persians and similar) due to higher in-flight health risks. We flag breed restrictions in your checklist and suggest pet-friendly airline options where they exist.
What documents do I need at the airport?
Typically a health certificate from your vet, an import permit for your destination, vaccination records and microchip documentation โ€” but the exact list varies by route. Your checklist lists every required document, when to obtain it, and how long it stays valid.
What if pet travel requirements change after I plan?
Pet travel rules can change. We base every checklist on the current published requirements and recommend verifying critical steps closer to your departure date. Your dashboard helps you track timing for each step so nothing slips.
